Political and Legal Impact of COVID-19 on Globalization

Si ispira a una donna malgascia, del piccolo villaggio di Marovay, vicino Mahajanga (Madagascar), con cui l’artista ebbe una profonda connessione. C’è stato un momento in cui le due sono riuscite perfettamente a intendersi, nonostante non parlassero la stessa lingua o avessero le stesse tradizioni o abitudini. Erano semplicemente due esseri umani che condividevano un’emozione.

It is inspired by a Malagasy woman from the small village of Marovay, near Mahajanga (Madagascar), with whom the artist had a deep connection. There was a moment when the two were able to understand each other perfectly, even though they did not speak the same language or had the same traditions or habits. They were simply two human beings who shared an emotion.

The COVID-19 pandemic has created a turbulence in the international legal order. Most countries have paused their international law obligations in order to preserve their national legal order. The COVID-19 outbreak has forced many developing countries to halt foreign direct investments to preserve their essential national utilities. While the short-term legal impact of the pandemic on Globalization seems to be devastating on many levels, we argue that – on the long term – the pandemic might have a positive impact on the international legal order.

La pandemia COVID-19 ha creato una turbolenza nell’ordinamento giuridico internazionale. La maggior parte dei paesi ha messo in pausa i propri obblighi di diritto internazionale per preservare l’ordinamento giuridico nazionale. L’epidemia di COVID-19 ha costretto molti paesi in via di sviluppo a sospendere gli investimenti diretti esteri per preservare i loro servizi pubblici nazionali essenziali. Mentre l’impatto legale a breve termine della pandemia sulla globalizzazione sembra essere devastante a molti livelli, noi sosteniamo che – a lungo termine – la pandemia potrebbe avere un impatto positivo sull’ordinamento giuridico internazionale.
